Welcome home from a busy week to those of you that took in the recent Smartphoneshow. This early edition of the SymbianOne Monitor comes to you loaded with news and feature content from last week's Symbian "lovefest"... enjoy! We've been busy here at SymbianOne, with Richard Bloor keeping us all informed about many developments and analyzing some of the news from the smartphoneshow. From Richard... It seems there was hardly time to digest one announcement before another came flying out of the Symbian Smartphone Show (this is eveident from the huge list of news items below). There were three announcements providing the strongest indicators of future developments in the Symbian ecosystem, the change in ownership at UIQ, the release of new phones from Samsung, and the new technology in Symbian OS v9.5. I suspect you are wondering why we've not included the announcement of the touch UI on S60. Two reasons, firstly this news has been leaking out since at least the S60 Summit back in May, so in many ways its not real news, even if the details are. Secondly, S60 has always been touchscreen capable; the devices have just not used this type of screen. Read on for an interesting recap of the busy day one at the show, including comments on the recently announced stake in UIQ by Motorola. We also look at new technologies announced for Symbian OS v9.5 as well as an interesting battle emerging between Quickoffice and DataViz.

As one event fades into the past another one kicks off this week in North America as CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment kicks off - SymbianOne's Glenn Letham will be in attendance, taking in special developer "mini events" put on by Navteq and SiRF. Glenn will also be taking in an evening with S60 on Tuesday followed up by a special MOSH social gathering put on by Nokia... you can view images from San Francisco on Glenn's Flickr as he clicks away with the N95... no doubt he'll likely MOSH some images from the MOSH party!
