Several interesting (and useful) mobile applications have been recently given updates… best of all, each of these apps is free! Please note, for the purpose of testing, I’ve installed the apps on a Nokia N95 8GB. What’s also cool about these apps is that each of them takes advantage of location provisioning provided via your handset’s internal GPS.

Polish company, Psiloc, has updated their very fine World Traveler application and are billing it as a Freemium service! World Traveler is free to download although billiable services are also supported as well. Easily downloaded from m.worldmate.com on your mobile device, the app delivers useful information for the frequent traveler including: a moving 3D World map, 5 day weather forecasts, a World clock (setup your favorite time zones), and a handy currency conversion - data connection is suggested for this app. See more in this PR or jump to http://www.worldtraveler.biz/ - FYI, this app supports S60 R5 and the new Nokia N97 and 5800 devices!

Not to be outdone, one of my favorite mobile companions has also been recently updated - enter Worldmate. This application is also supported by the iPhone and is destined to become a TOP travel app in the iTunes store. WorldMate is the ideal travel companion, providing users with access to flight status updates (premium), weather reports, local search, currecny conversion and much more - this is a MUST have! Google has recently updated their support for S60 with the release of Google Mobile for S60 - the focus of the app is the topic of immediacy! The application delivers a mobile gateway to frequently used google applications like gMail, Maps, Search and more. Google Mobile App can be downloaded from http://m.google.com on your phone’s browser or jump to http://www.google.com/mobile/default/app.html
