It probably goes without saying that UIQ Technology will be in attendance at Symbian Expo. On its stand will be the latest phones based on UIQ 2.1 and more details on UIQ 3 will be revealed. But what has all that got to do with tea and sandwiches?
UIQ Technology will be difficult to miss at the Symbian Expo, its stand will be directly inside the show entrance. There UIQ Technology will be joined by its licensees, Sony Ericsson and Motorola who are sponsoring the UIQ Technology presence as well as BenQ and Arima who will be displaying their latest UIQ phones, the P910, A1000, P30 and U300 respectively.
There will also be many of UIQ Technology’s technical support staff on the stand ready to answer developer questions. “Symbian Expo’s have always been about developers and even with the events change of focus this year we still see the developer as a critical part of UIQ,” says Elisabet Melin, UIQ Technology’s VP Marketing. “The show is an ideal opportunity for developers too see the faces in our organization, for us to meet developers and talk with them face-to-face. So we want to encourage developer to bring any questions they have about UIQ development to the show so they can get answers.”
Although the focus of the UIQ stand will be on UIQ 2.1 there will also be more information on UIQ 3.0. Sara Myrén, UIQ’s Product Manager for 3.0 will be presenting a public introduction to the new capabilities. Behind the scenes UIQ Technology will also be providing operators with a seminar on the platform.
So what about the tea and sandwiches? UIQ Technology, with Sony Ericsson and Motorola are sponsoring the Deli Zone where attendees can go for refreshments, relax and catch their breath, or compete against each other in a head-to-head race game. “In the Deli Zone we will be showing, in a tangibly way, that our UIQ licensees are co-operating in driving UIQ forward,” says Elisabet. “So attendees will be able to use the Motorola A1000 and Sony Ericsson P910 to race remote control cars over Bluetooth. There will also be the opportunity to get to know these two phones better.”
During Symbian Expo, UIQ Technology will be connected with the slogan ‘Leading technology innovation and beyond´. Elisabet hopes that this will be reflected in the impression visitor to the show will take away, seeing that “UIQ is an established platform, that version three opens up many new possibilities for all types of phones and share our excitement about the future of UIQ.”
