Motorola + DoCoMo = Symbian?

Computer Business Review Online are reporting that the recent deal between Motorola and DoCoMo to create business orientated phones for the FOMA network will be based on Symbian OS.
While Computer Business Review found the news surprising it is perhaps not so given that DoCoMo have identified Symbian OS as a strategic OS for future FOMA devices. Although DoCoMo have also embraced Linux for the same purpose and Motorola have a strong Linux strategy the Motorola do have a good track record of creating Symbian OS based 3G phone having already delivered 2 to operator 3 and a third, the A1000, is we understand currently in trial.
