Scalado joins Texas Instruments' OMAP(TM) Developer Network to provide advanced mobile imaging functionality.

TI's OMAP processors and Scalado imaging platform CAPS to enable an enhanced usability and imaging experience

Scalado AB (www.scalado.com), one of the leading companies in mobile imaging, today announced that it has become a member of Texas Instruments' OMAP Developer Network, a group of leading developers that delivers software platforms and applications driving the next-generation of mobile entertainment and productivity. The network is paving the way for innovative 2G and 3G wireless handsets and PDAs by writing compelling applications and services. Scalados' imaging software platform CAPS, is designed to meet the increased demand of image processing performance, especially on devices with limited memory and processing capabilities.

CAPS is a complete, feature rich camera phone solution, for creating, editing and managing high resolution images, fast and memory efficient. The CAPS framework contains a broad suite of tools for image processing on constrained platforms as well as open OS. CAPS will enable OEMs and ODMs using the OMAP Platform to increase their ROI by considerably cutting memory requirements and reducing CPU requirements. At the same time it will the enhance imaging experience, as it reduces the imaging processing time and speeds up the JPEG decoding and encoding by up to 10 times.

"Texas Instruments is a leading player in this segment, and we are proud to have become a part of the network," says Mats Jacobson, CEO at Scalado. "By joining the TI's developer network we will ensure that the CAPS technology is made available for all mobile and handheld devices using the OMAP processor based solutions."

"Scalado's CAPS camera phone solution offers end users additional editing and management functions of their photos," said Bryce Johnstone, Manager of TI's OMAP Developer Network. "Leveraging OMAP processor MIPS, CAPS will deliver high-performance image processing, delivering an enhanced user camera experience on the phone."

Scalado targets the mobile imaging market by providing superior imaging technology platforms and applications. The CAPS software platform is today used by leading handset manufacturers, and is integrated in the world-leading software solution Obigo from Teleca/Obigo.
