itsmy Launches Turnkey Solution for Carrier Social Web Gaming Print E-mail

November 20, 2012, Munich Germany – Social cloud gaming specialist itsmy has launched a wholesale solution to allow carriers to fast-track and monetize a simple-to-access, social gaming service which is both multi-screen and cross-platform. The solution, now commercially deployed by a leading Austrian carrier, leverages HTML5 technology for a quality, casual social cloud gaming experience on all connected devices and connectivity options, including 2.5G, LTE and DSL.

For the so-called ‘Facebook Generation’, social gaming – as opposed to gaming alone – is a logical behavior; social gaming is the fastest growing sector of the online entertainments industry as a whole. itsmy is the first social gaming specialist to emerge with a one-stop solution for carriers looking to leverage and monetize this next-gen wave of digital interactivity for their entire customer base, both prepaid and post-paid.

The itsmy platform is a fully-managed, turnkey solution for access to up to 120 pre-licensed, tested and primed social gaming titles from all over the world. Many of these games are exclusive to the itsmy platform and cannot be found in any of the leading OS app stores. The solution allows for a wide scope for carrier customization, from catalogue development and multi-language support, to the creation of a carrier-branded editorial board for enhanced engagement with social gaming customers, including recommendations and promotions. itsmy has further developed an ‘intelligent advertising’ feature which automates advertising delivery to both iOS and Android devices, in the appropriate format. All this allows carriers to control the business model with a freemium, ad-sponsored baseline, together with premium services and features. itsmy has already activated direct carrier billing with 20 different carriers.

All the social games in the itsmy catalogue are HTML5; access is via the mobile browser, as opposed to via individual apps. This removes the requirement for gamers to first source, and then download, proprietary software or an app interface from one of the leading OS app stores. Social cloud gaming can be activated in seconds via the mobile browser, and users can quickly reach out to their digital friends to share a real-time, interactive and social gaming experience, remotely, and across any variety of connected device. itsmy social gaming can be enjoyed across all leading smartphone and tablet mobile operating systems, from iOS, Android and Blackberry, for smart TVs and set-top boxes as well as PC – ideal for carriers looking for a cross-platform solution for their entire customer base.

“Social gaming on mobile devices is about to reach the tipping point,” says Sabine Irrgang, COO and Head of Worldwide Carrier Partnerships at itsmy. “This is a great opportunity for carriers to accelerate their VAS innovation programs with a unique and robust solution. And this is also a chance to get back to eye level with leading hardware manufacturers”.

In the coming years, HTML5 will revolutionize the mobile media market. All apps will reside in the cloud, accessible via a mobile browser, vastly simplifying access from ‘any’ connected device. Users will be able to migrate their favourite gaming experience from one device – and even one platform – straight to another, without the requirement to first re-download and re-invest in platform-specific mobile apps. HTML5 will allow customers to switch devices and platforms more easily, allowing for greater customer choice and a healthier, more competitive mobile eco-system on the whole. Strategically, HTML5 will allow carriers to challenge and eventually override the current OS duopoly which is currently stifling the mobile media market and artificially binding customers to platform-agnostic products and services. With the itsmy solution, carriers can be among the first to leverage HTML5 to monetize social gaming and grow new service revenue in an exciting new area of social entertainment, and promote themselves as the caretaker-in-the-cloud of all their customers’ social gaming experiences.

About itsmy:

itsmy is an HTML5 multi-screen social game platform with 2.5 million registered gamers accessing 120+ casual and multiplayer titles. The itsmy gaming platform can also be licensed as a white labeled solution. itsmy is a brand of Gofresh GmbH, Munich, Germany
