Calling all designers, software engineers, business strategists
and other clever problem solvers who want to make a real difference in people’s lives
Join TED City2.0, the Equal Justice Initiative, California College of the Arts (CCA), officials from the Office of the Mayor of San Francisco, and Mix & Stir Studio for 24 hours of intensive, creative fun inventing design-driven technology solutions to real world problems. We provide the challenges and interesting data; you collaborate with other smart creative people to find the solutions.
Unhackathon #2 is focused on making life in the Bay Area a little more equal by applying your expertise to solve either of two challenges:
1. Economic Opportunity – A city can be a great engine of economic prosperity through the creation and support of small businesses, but its benefits are often clustered and not equally distributed throughout all neighborhoods. How can we use design-driven technology to identify, encourage or spread small business growth throughout San Francisco?
2. Civic Identity – Education, economic opportunity and social services are key to lifting people out of poverty and reducing crime in the community. How can we use design-driven technology to better connect these resources to the citizens who need them most?
Help your city, have a great time, and – if your concept wins – qualify for a TED City 2.0 $10,000 funding grant.
