Company Nominated in Two Categories in Baltimore Business Journal's Biz Buzz Awards
Localist, a comprehensive social calendar platform that transforms static event calendars into interactive social hubs, was recently nominated for two categories in the Baltimore Business Journal's Biz Buzz Awards.
Localist was nominated in the "App Creator" and "Mobile Web" categories for its efforts in bringing online social events to over forty higher education institutions and organizations with a mobile-supported solution out of the box.
"We're very honored to be recognized by the Baltimore Business Journal," said Mykel Nahorniak, CEO of Localist. "The community in Baltimore has been nothing but supportive. It's been great to share what we're doing with such a receptive city."
Localist replaces organizations' static online calendar with a social experience. Engaging the student body on online platforms that student's use everyday, the calendar system includes features such as Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare integration, and mobile access.
Students can easily see who is attending what events or discover new destinations through its review-based features. Students can also create their own events, from events held by campus organizations to ice cream socials.
More than just an event calendar, Localist also acts as a marketing and communications tool for staff, featuring search engine optimization, automated newsletters, building directories and content curation. The universities can also fully control all branding elements. These additional features work to streamline a variety of university processes, saving the institutions thousands of dollars a year and creating a more unified campus life.
About Localist
Baltimore-based Localist provides a comprehensive event calendar platform to various organizations, including universities and colleges, public school systems, tourism boards and location-based events websites.
Put yourself in the shoes of an incoming freshman at a university. How do you find out what's happening on campus? Who's going to events? What are the popular places? How do you get there?
Before Localist, there was no solution. Schools offered a static listing of events that remained largely unused by the student body.
That's where Localist comes in. Localist bridges the gap by integrating seamlessly into an institution's website, leveraging the services tools students are already plugged into, like Facebook and Twitter, while offering powerful administrative tools that resource-strained faculty desperately need.
