The weekly LBSzone social location news round-up billed as "The Social Location Report" was released October 19, 2011... enjoy
Welcome to another mobile, location technology news update from the LBSzone.com. A busy week here so far and no doubt some of you are likely taking in this week's BlackBerry DevCon event... enjoy your week if that's on your agenda! Of interest, we penned a few items of interest, some numbers, and some key points from yesterday's keynote presentation by RIM CEO Lazaridis - see details here and catch a reply of the Keynote Here. On to GPS news, if you happen to be interested in following the LightSquared saga, be sure to bookmark the Lightsquared Watch archive on Amerisurv where you can stay informed of all the developments and tips that have been sent to Editor, Marc Cheves... some great stuff here! Finally, if you follow me on Twitter (@gletham) you may have noticed that I've been touting the Android Mobile OS this week. That's because I've made a switch, for now, to a Samsung Galaxy S II 4G smartphone and will be getting re-acquainted with the Android OS once again (note, I'm still also on iOS via the iPad2). For starters you might check out this unboxing video I dropped on YouTube. I'm fumbling a little getting to know the Android ecosystem, however, the speedy network I'm getting from 4G and the awesome hardware may be enough to offset the growing pains - recall Mr. Balmer recently commented that he felt a user needed to be a computer scientist in order to use the Android OS... hilarious!
A few Geo Tech news/PR items of interest that you'll find on LBSzone.com this week: TdhGIS - Vector based Spatial Analysis has been updated - The purpose of TdhGIS is to perform spatial analysis of data based on vector defined geometric data; BlackBerry BBX Next Generation Platform for BlackBerry Smartphones and Tablets - Developer Beta includes the BlackBerry Runtime for Android Apps; Waze Zooms Past 7 Million Drivers, Brings in New Growth Funding - an additional round of funding of $30 million; Who Is Going to Buy an iPhone 4S?
