AccuWeather today announced the release of the updated AccuWeather for Windows® Phone 7.5 application, available for download from Windows Phone Marketplace.

STATE COLLEGE, PA -- October 17, 2011 --   Designed specifically for the newest version of Windows Phone, codenamed “Mango,” the app allows for easier access to essential weather content and utilizes Windows Phone’s unique features, taking advantage of platform developments.

"AccuWeather is a great example of what Windows Phone 7.5 does for apps through new features like improved Live Tiles, App Connect and multitasking," said Todd Brix, senior director, Windows Phone Marketplace, Microsoft Corp.  "And, with the Windows Phone Marketplace now also available on the Web, people can easily find rich applications like AccuWeather that enable them to get the most out of their phone," he continued.

"The power of this app comes from the way it combines the unique features of Windows® Phone with the world's best weather information. The two-sided tiles on the home screen are just one of the really useful features," said Pascal Racheneur, AccuWeather Vice President of Interactive Media.  "Seeing the tiles flip from the current conditions to the day's high and low temperatures gives users of the AccuWeather for Windows Phone 7.5 app the instant access to the essential weather they need to plan their activities."

AccuWeather for Windows Phone® 7.5 is truly a dynamic, world-class reliable weather app.  It provides all of the localized and accurate weather information users are used to from AccuWeather.  Features new to this version of the application include:

App Connect - Connects the app to your Bing™ location search, giving current weather conditions for the searched location.
Two-Sided Tiles - Tiles flip from one side to the other, switching from current conditions to the day's high/low temperatures.
Secondary Application Tiles - Allows for multiple tiles (one for each location) to be added to the home screen for instant access to weather information.
Fast Application Switching - Application is preserved for immediate resuming.
Localization (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish) - Application can determine which language the device is set to and automatically translates app into that language.
Notifications for Weather Alerts - Allows you to subscribe to weather alert notifications for the default location.
