Speculation is still rampant, however, signs seem to indicate that Nokia will announce their first Windows Phone sometime in 2011, one would have to suspect that they HAVE to do so at the Nokia World Event later in October
It seems like its been months now that we've been hearing from Nokia that its coming soon, coming soon.. perhaps so. When you consider the leaked names "Nokia Sabre and Nokia Sea Ray" and the fact that the annual Nokia love-fest (Nokia World) is just around the corner, oh and toss into the equation that iPhone (4S) is rapidly catching up in functionality with devices like the terrific Nokia N8 Nokia really does need to announce this device soon. In all honesty if the Nokia Windows Phone isn't available by the Christmas Holiday shopping season in some major markets then Nokia will likely be in for a very rough start to 2012.
This from cNet News...
CEO Stephen Elop made the announcement yesterday at a technology event in the company's home base of Helsinki, Finland, according to Reuters and other news sources. Nokia has been eyeing a 2011 launch for its first Windows Phone devices since this summer, so it has little choice but to hit the market this quarter to reach that goal.
The first handset could come as early as the end of this month to coincide with the Nokia World trade show taking place in London on October 26 and 27. If so, that would force the company to push out the new phone early next month if it wants to reach consumers in time for the crucial holiday-shopping season, Reuters noted.
