San Jose, CA, July 15, 2010: The Applied Voice Input/Output Society (AVIOS) and Bill Meisel's TMA Associates announced that the next Mobile Voice Conference, which received rave reviews from attendees in 2010, will be held January 24-26, 2011 at the San Jose Marriott in San Jose, California.

"It's becoming rapidly evident that speech recognition and other speech technologies are increasingly an important part of the user experience on mobile phones and other mobile devices," explained Bill Meisel, co-organizer of the conference and Editor of Speech Strategy News.  In a keynote at the last Mobile Voice Conference, Michael Cohen of Google emphasized the importance of speech technology in meeting a need for ubiquitous mobile access--"any time, any place, any usage scenario, as part of any type of activity." In another keynote, Jay Wilpon of AT&T indicated that AT&T was offering a free cloud-based speech recognition service that independent application developers could employ, broadening the number of vendors that could offer such services economically. Apple's recent acquisition of Siri, a company offering a voice-interactive "personal assistant," further exemplifies the wide support for this trend.
