Multitude Media: Downloads of Goal.com Mobile App Top 651,000 Print E-mail
Written by Goal.com
Friday, 25 June 2010

LONDON & KANSAS CITY, Missouri-- The Goal.com mobile application has been downloaded over 651,000 times, delivering the most comprehensive World Cup 2010 and global football coverage to the palm of fans' hands.

"This World Cup has seen a shift in the way football fans can follow the finals, and the Goal.com mobile app takes our comprehensive coverage and sends it to the palm of the user's hand."

The app is available free across all major smartphone platforms, including Nokia (S60 5th edition), iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Windows Mobile devices. It is also now available in nine languages - English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Dutch and Indonesian.

As the world's largest new media football community, the app is powered by Goal.com's global network that enlists 550 reporters based around the world. With news, live commentary, player profiles and 10 reporters at the finals providing blogs and on the spot content, Goal.com offers the most comprehensive coverage for fans in every country in the world.

The updated World Cup 2010 version of the app, developed in partnership with Handmarkr, includes live scores for fans on the move as well as group-by-group fixtures, ensuring users are able to keep track of the world's most popular event whether they are on the train, at work or in between meetings.

News and scores within the app update automatically, even when not in use, meaning the user is greeted with immediate, up-to-date information upon its launch. All stories are available for offline reading and can be shared via email and social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

Goal.com PR Director Will Wood said: "This World Cup has seen a shift in the way football fans can follow the finals, and the Goal.com mobile app takes our comprehensive coverage and sends it to the palm of the user's hand."

Fans wishing to download the Goal.com mobile app can do so by visiting http://bit.ly/aUy25T on a desktop or m.goal.com/app via a mobile browser.
