New Applications Join Brighkite's iPhone, Android and BlackBerry Apps
BURLINGAME, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Brightkite, the Social Discovery Network, today announced the availability of two new phone applications that reinforce the company's commitment to provide the best user experience for all phone users, regardless of their phone or geographical location.
Developed by Brightkite, the new Nokia application runs on all Symbian S60 5th Edition phones, including the Nokia N97 and the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. The application is available today from the Ovi store.
The Palm application, known as Parafoil, was developed by two Brightkite users (John Barker and Kyle Johnson) and is the latest third-party application to be built using Brightkite's open API. The Palm application works on the Palm Pre and Pixie devices, and is available for download from the Palm App Catalog.
"Brightkite has always been committed to supporting all mobile phone users and we have an extensive mobile website and SMS functionality that everyone can use. However, as many users trade up to smartphones, we want to support them with applications that provide seamless posting and integration with camera and GPS capabilities. The new Nokia and Palm apps allow more people to use Brightkite in the easiest and most rewarding ways," commented Brightkite founder Brady Becker.
While the US is Brightkite's biggest market, international markets are growing in importance for the company - with Japan showing the strongest growth in recent months. Having a broad range of handset support is vital to be relevant in all markets.
