Twitter Launches Local Trends: How Small Businesses Will Benefit Print E-mail
Written by Twittrafficpro.com
Wednesday, 27 January 2010

Twitter is rolling out location-based trending topics. Local trends will allow users to designate a local area and see the most relevant regional news and trends.

According to Wandia Chiuri, Senior Director of Project Development at Twittrafficpro.com, local trends could potentially be revolutionary for small businesses.

Los Angeles, CA January 27, 2010 -- Twitter is rolling out location-based trending topics. Local trends will allow users to designate a local area and see the most relevant regional news and trends.

According to Wandia Chiuri, Senior Director of Project Development at Twittrafficpro.com, local trends could potentially be revolutionary for small businesses.

Twittrafficpro.com enables small businesses and a wide range of individuals to establish their brands using Twitter. Some entrepreneurs serving specific regions only felt Twitter was not relevant to their businesses because they claimed the social network lacked local focus.

"Access to real time local data will make it easy for businesses to connect with the needs of  customers in the neighborhood and offer timely relevant services and specials," said Chiuri.

Local Trends will allow users to set a specific location, so that they can see what people are discussing most actively on Twitter locally. Small business owners will be able to find out what is popular in their cities in real time. In a sense they will be able to eavesdrop on local conversation. The ability to find out the top phrases being used in each city will enable them to create timely marketing messages based on what is relevant, and respond to Tweets sent and received specifically in the cities where they do business. They will also be able to connect with the local influencers - tweeters who set trends and add value to the city's Twitter activity.

According to Twitter officials local trends has been rolled out to a small subset of users. Location based trending topics will reach a larger audience in the third week of January, 2010, if all goes as planned. Users will be able to change locations on-the-fly, like while traveling. Local Trends will also provide a list of different cities and countries in which you can view trends. This will be limited to only 15 U.S. cities initially. Trending topics will be accessible on the right-hand column of Twitter.com.

"If you target the right clients with a message that resonates they will tell their friends," said Wandia Chiuri, a foremost authority on winning in a world transformed by social media technology.

Social networks like Twitter enable brands to activate their advocates, who then turn to their friends with the exciting news and convince them to join the band wagon. They serve as credible unpaid evangelists for your products.

"That is the real power of this new marketing trend," said Chiuri, "Tweets about new relevant products, special offers or an exciting launch could get customers through the door in droves."

Twitter enables us to conduct market research in real-time so that businesses can match supply to demand. Twittrafficpro.com offers lots of tools to help small businesses manage their brands on Twitter, automate campaigns, target the right clients, analyze the return on effort and get insight into how effective a message was as well as what strategies are working best for a company.

"Local trends will be a fantastic addition to this arsenal of tools that enable small businesses to win in the new digital landscape," said Chiuri. "Used right, these tools can help even individuals unlock the power of branding, unleash their potential and make the meteoric rise from obscurity to ubiquity."

Part of Twitter's power is that people can get access and communicate to large numbers of people from a cell phone. Even non-smartphone mobiles can interface with Twitter via SMS or the mobile web.

"This puts the ability to manage a marketing campaign at your fingertips," said Wandia Chiuri, an expert on Web innovation and social media monetization. "With local trends, businesses can hyper focus on the right audience and evaluate the return on their efforts."

As Senior Director of Project Development at Twittrafficpro.com, Wandia Chiuri shows individuals and businesses how they can brand themselves without the hundreds-of-thousands dollar cost associated with the big advertising agencies. She's known as the million dollar lifestyle business coach because she knows first-hand how to build a successful, thriving, freedom-based company with her secret weapons - social media and passion.
