The OMTP has officially announced that its BONDI widget competition is now open for entries. With a top prize of $5000 kindly donated by Qualcomm and a number of handsets as alternative prizes this is THE competition for developers this season.
Through this competition the OMTP is offering widget developers the chance to have their applications demoed and promoted at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month.
The aim of the competition is simple. Create a widget using the tools, tutorials and examples on the BONDI website and upload it to the Competition widget gallery. A panel of judges from across the industry will meet in the week before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to choose the best widgets. These will then be demoed in all their glory on a number of great handsets at the event.
Closing date for entries is February 8th 2010.
So, why would a developer want to enter and how can they justify their time?
There are some great prizes to be won.
Winning widgets will be demonstrated on several key stands at the Mobile World Congress on a number of BONDI devices.
The developer's company logo or name can be widely seen by the visitors at the event.
Winning widgets (with the developers name, logo and bio) will be promoted on the BONDI website.
They get good publicity for themselves and their company.
How do they enter?
Just register online, create your widget using the tools of your choice and upload your entry to an online gallery. There is a step by step guide on the OMTP website and once registered full support will be provided if difficulties arise.
For more information on the competition please visit the BONDI website.
