High-quality data and superior technical support make NAVTEQ a smart choice for Digital Life

CHICAGO, Dec. 14 -- NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of digital map, traffic and location data for in-vehicle, portable, wireless and enterprise solutions, has been selected by Digital Life, a Brazil-based electronics provider, to supply map data for the new, G31 Digital Life PND which launched in November. NAVTEQ's high quality map data and extensive customer and technical support were deciding factors in Digital Life's choice to utilize NAVTEQ map data of Brazil to power the Route 66 navigation application featured in the G31 Digital Life PND.

Benefits of the G31 Digital Life PND are a 3.5 inch LCD touch screen, voice guidance and access to a variety of multimedia features such as videos, music, e-books and photos. The G31 Digital Life PND utilizes the NAVTEQ map of Brazil and Route 66's navigation application to provide users with a driving experience featuring turn-by-turn guidance, extensive Points of Interests as well as broad and comprehensive city coverage. The NAVTEQ map of Brazil includes 1,259 cities across Brazil and contains a superb listing of 644,000 Points of Interest (POIs) like pharmacies, banks and restaurants enabling G31 users to select their destination either by address or the POI listing.

"We are pleased to work with such a well-regarded, local company like Digital Life, which recognizes the impact a high-quality map and content make to the overall consumer navigation experience," stated Helder de Azevedo, general director-Latin America, NAVTEQ.  "We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship."

"We know that NAVTEQ is recognized as the leading global provider of map data; however, it was their collaborative approach to working with us that ultimately led us to choose them as the map provider for the G31," stated Xu Wei, president-Digital Life. "As a company known for exceptional customer support, we have high expectations regarding this area of service, and NAVTEQ exceeded our expectations."

Known for their quality, NAVTEQ maps are built to a single data specification allowing customers to easily and cost-effectively move into new markets by optimizing their development efforts in one country for use in another. In addition to maps for Brazil, NAVTEQ provides maps in Latin America for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. A dedicated technical customer support team is available to assist customers with integrating NAVTEQ maps into applications.

NAVTEQ maps are unique in their representation of real-world driving conditions. In Brazil, dozens of NAVTEQ geographic analysts, located in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre and Recife use local knowledge and local contacts to collect and verify details of the roads. They drive thousands of kilometers each year and have local knowledge of road network changes helping to make NAVTEQ maps the freshest and most up-to-date.
