Sybase iAnywhere Recognized as Leader in Mobile Device Management Enterprise Software for Eighth Consecutive Year - New Report From Leading Industry Analyst Firm Highlights 19.2% Market Share of Afaria Solution in Mobile Device Management (MDM)

Sybase iAnywhere Recognized as Leader in Mobile Device Management Enterprise Software for Eighth Consecutive Year - New Report From Leading Industry Analyst Firm Highlights 19.2% Market Share of Afaria Solution in Mobile Device Management (MDM)DUBLIN, Calif.--Sybase, Inc. (NYSE:SY), an industry leader in delivering enterprise and mobile software, today announced that in a recent Worldwide Mobile Device Management Enterprise 2009 - 2013 Forecast 2008 Vendor Shares report,1 leading IT market research advisory firm IDC recognized Sybase iAnywhere as the leader in mobile device management enterprise software for the eighth consecutive year.

The report found that the worldwide MDM enterprise market grew by 7% from 2007 to 2008, reaching $260.8 million in revenue. IDC predicts that the market will grow by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.2% over the next five years to reach $405.3 million by 2013.

"More and more organizations require a robust device management and security platform to support a wide range of mobile devices such as iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile," said Sean Ryan, research analyst, mobile enterprise, IDC. "Despite the current tough economic climate, the adoption rate of mobile technology continues to grow. Looking ahead, organizations will be required to streamline operations and control costs but also ensure the mobile workforce has the right support, access, security and compliance controlled through a single environment that can manage multiple platforms, different devices and varied applications."

"The fact that IDC has recognized Sybase iAnywhere as the MDM leader for the eighth consecutive year is a testament to our leadership and commitment to advance our mobility offerings," said Terry Stepien, president, Sybase iAnywhere. "We continue to see a strong proliferation of different device types in the enterprise, yet customers demand a single management system. This is where Sybase differentiates from the competition. At the center of every new offering and innovation are the core competencies needed to drive businesses forward and prepare them for the unwired enterprise of the future."

The full report can be obtained at www.idc.com. For more information on Afaria please call 800-8SYBASE or 519-883-6898 or visit www.sybase.com/afaria.
