With this change in the rules, private developers will now have free access to the Sony Ericsson Software Developer Kit (SDK) for Windows Mobile which enables developers to produce a variety of XPERIAT X1 panels that can meet the consumer demand for a rich, individualized mobile multimedia experience.
"Sony Ericsson is committed to building a rich and dynamic panel eco-system for the XperiaT X1 bringing the power of the handset to life," said Björn Ahlberg, Head of Content & Services at Sony Ericsson. "Making the SDK for Windows Mobile available for free to developers and mobile content creators will accelerate the development of new panels and applications for the XPERIAT X1, offering consumer choice and personalisation."
Winning entrants will be invited to an exclusive two day workshop and presentation at the Sony Ericsson headquarters in Lund, Sweden in March 2009. They will also be given an opportunity to present their projects to a series of top executives and spend one-on-one time with Sony Ericsson managers and in-house development teams. Finally, winners will be given a 2008 winner's symbol that can be proudly displayed on their Web site and used in marketing literature.
