I’m often asked, what do I find are the most useful or coolest, Free apps for my mobile? Well, it’s tough to say as I use so many, however, I realized this week that a great way to determine which apps are most needed is to simply switch devices… you soon realize that you have to rush off and quickly install some apps in a hurry!
I’ve been testing a Nokia N82 (with GPS naturally) but it was lacking some apps.. so which ones did I have to grab immediately?? The following is a quick list of 10 - actually 12 -must have S60 apps that I had to load up (no particular order):
Shozu - what better way to upload data to your social bookmarks. Shozu supports most of the popular social bookmarking sites and enables you to easily upload video, photos, email etc... to them while also crunching the data to a smaller size if you want.
Nokia email - the new Beta email is a definite must have! Free email on your mobile... still Beta but a great app! Check out more about Nokia Email in this feature
Qik - if you’re into video then another must. Live, mobile video streaming from your smartphone to the web... say no more!
Flixwagon - another video sharing app.. very nice and connects with Ovi too! Users can stream live while also uploading the video to YouTube and Ovi Share.
Screenshot - say no more, what writer doesn’t need screen caps? THE screenshot app enabling you to capture a still image of what's on your mobile screen - great for articles and blog posts.
FriendView - new this week from Nokia. A great social networking and Microblogging tool from Nokia. Connect with friends then post comments. More HERE
WHERE - all the location-aware widgets you can imagine and then some! WHERE has loads of location aware widgets for the mobile user.. gasbuddy, Starbucks store locator, local search, flickpics and much more
Google gmail - I have a bakup of all my email on gmail and its on my mobile naturally! See more here
Gmaps Google Maps is awesome and I’d be lost without it!!
mywaves - you have to have a fun application or two! (via Nokia download) Locate cool video clips and watch them on your mobile
Twibble... location-aware Twitter client… nice! A great mobile twitter client that also has location providioning.
Special Mention - Sports Tracker although it came loaded on the device! Upload and share your GPS tracks from walks, a bike ride or even a dog walk. Store your track, upload videos and photos taken along the way - see my dashboard
Mobblr s60 mobile client for last.fm
These are but 10 of the top apps that I absolutely have to have on my mobile - I could easily go on!
