Tagggit - Symbian application offers mobile socialising tied to real places and friends - Tagggit Launches with Skyhook Wireless Location

LONDON, UK and BOSTON, MA – October 21, 2008 – Tagggit, a geotagging and social networking application, launched today with location from Skyhook Wireless' Wi-Fi Positioning System (WPS). Tagggit can be accessed online and downloaded for Symbian devices today at http://www.tagggit.com

“After years of repeatedly asking friends for pub and restaurant recommendations, sharing opinions about our own favourite places, and trying to easily locate nearby friends, we were inspired to develop Tagggit,” said Loughlin Spollen, co-founder of Tagggit. “By creating a space where people can geotag places and read reviews, find friends, discover people with similar interests, Tagggit brings online social networks into the real world.”

Applications like Tagggit which have combined socialising with location are poised for success in the next four years. ABI Research has predicted that location-based mobile social networking will generate revenues of $3.3 billion by 2012.

“Tagggit requires location-awareness that is reliable indoors, accurate in urban areas, and provides instant results,” said Kate Imbach, director of marketing and developer relations at Skyhook Wireless. “Tagggit integrated WPS because it meets performance requirements that traditional positioning methodologies cannot alone.”

Tagggit is currently available in Symbian devices can be downloaded today at http://www.tagggit.com. Try it out by plotting your location a the pub and inviting your friends join, discovering tagged places around London, or joining a community of people with similar interests. Even greater functionality and support for additional devices will be added in the coming months.
