A note from Nokia reps this week informs us that the Nokia viNe application will be rolled out of Beta soon... possibly even this week. viNe is a web service that enables users of the application to share their journeys, along with media collected along the way. As a long-time Sports Tracker user, N95 enthusiasts, and evangelist of all things mobile and geospatial, I was provided with a pre-release version of viNe - details and a complete "How To" install and use the application are provided... enjoy! It was back in June 2008 that the E71 was officially released to the public - the selling points for the E71 were a sleek, stylish do-it-all device that came with Mail for Exchange mobile email client - pre-loaded with the Nokia E71. Actually, the device boasted much much more than these attributes as you'll see below in my findings after having the pleasure of making the E71 my main device for 3 weeks... enjoy the recap, the images and the videos!
A colleague of mine has a need for a mobile developer to help port and clean up a fantastic mobile application to J2ME in order to run on Symbian S60 3 devices (like the N72, N73)
Skills in BREW, J2ME, symbian OS likely helpful. Integration of mobile geotagging into application will be required.
This project will need to begin ASAP and is a great opportunity be part of an exciting application in the USA, combining mobile, social networking, geotagging, and sports.
Details... We have both a BREW app currently and a J2ME app. However, the J2ME app was the earliest development, and such needs to be updated to the current BREW development UI and functionality - a relatively simple porting exercise. Both of these apps provide real-time play-by-play video. We also have a publish/subscribe feature on a website that pushes video of specific items in real-time to an individuals mobile phone. As it relates to this specific project; an individual with Symbian OS dev experience is absolutely required. If they have BREW experience that is a huge bonus(HUGH).
