UIQ Technology has releasaed support packages for Carbide.vs 2.0.2 and 3.0.1. Carbide.vs provides easy entry into Symbian OS C++ development with wizards and other automated functions that integrate with Visual Studio .NET 2003 and 2005.
These support packages add the ability to develop UIQ applications to Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 and Visual Studio 2005. In both cases Carbide.vs needs to be installed first - Carbide.vs 2.0.2 for Visual Studio .NET 2003 and Carbide.vs 3.0.1 for Visual Studio 2005 - then the appropriate support pack can be added. Once this is done the latest UIQ 3 SDKs are available in Visual Studio (although the UIQ 3.3 SDK is not supported in Visual Studio 2005, according to the release notes).
In addition to basic UIQ SDK support, the support packs also add a range of UIQ specific project, class, fragment, ands item templates to Visual Studio,
If you need an introduction to Carbide.vs, the UIQ Developer Comminity Web site says "Carbide.vs is an entry-level tool for developers who are familiar with Visual Studio .NET 2003 or Visual Studio 2005 and want to create UIQ 3 applications. Carbide.vs extends the Visual Studio C++ project type with functionality specific to Symbian OS. The look and feel of Visual Studio is maintained wherever possible. Carbide.vs provides easy entry into Symbian OS C++ development with wizards and other automated functions that integrate with Visual Studio. User can get started with minimal manual configuration. Carbide.vs also contains functionality to automate several development tasks specific to Symbian OS, such as support for development with multiple SDKs, importing and creating projects, and automatic maintenance of key Symbian OS files."
The UIQ support packs and both versions of Carbide.vs can be downloaded from the UIQ Developer Community sites IDEs page, here. |
