Orange announces the launch of Orange cinéma séries Print E-mail
Written by Orange
Monday, 07 April 2008
Orange announces the launch of Orange cinéma séries, the first premium television service available on all platforms - Orange will have exclusive access to new films, series and catalogues from Warner Bros and HBO

- Orange will have exclusive access to new films, series and catalogues from Warner Bros. International Television and HBO, as well as exclusive access to all the new movies from Fidélité Films, and a large selection of films from the Gaumont catalogue

- The Orange cinéma séries will be available by subscription for all Orange TV, Internet and mobile customers in France

- The premium service will consist of six channels of films and TV series available to customers, while also offering the programming on-demand to the screen of their choice

- The Orange cinéma séries will also offer the world’s only service for downloading and transferring Orange cinéma séries programmes onto all portable devices, including mobile phones

At the MIPTV 2008 event in Cannes, Orange is announcing the launch of Orange cinéma séries, the only service of its kind in the world to offer premium television on TV, PC and mobile. The service will be launched in France in the 4th quarter of 2008.

Orange will offer a wide range of exclusive films and new TV series, as well as titles from catalogues thanks to multi-year deals with Warner Bros. International Television, HBO, Gaumont and Fidélité Films.

Orange cinéma séries will offer exclusive releases of all Warner Bros. films (Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Ocean's 13, I am Legend, Dark Knight, etc.), as well as new series from HBO (True Blood, Generation Kill, John Adams, In Treatment, etc.). Orange customers will also be able to benefit from the richness of the catalogues of Gaumont, Warner Bros. and HBO (Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, etc.).

In addition, Orange and Fidélité Films (De l’Autre Côté du Lit with Dany Boon and Sophie Marceau, Le Petit Nicolas with Valérie Lemercier and Kad Merad) have signed an exclusive multi-year agreement to release all the new movies from Fidélité Films. The launch of this service underscores Orange’s keen interest in drawing on the creativity of French productions and in contributing to the funding of French cinema.

Orange cinéma séries will be offered as an option on Orange TV, available on broadband Internet or, if need be, by satellite. Orange broadband TV coverage will be supplemented by satellite access following a deal signed with GlobeCast, an Orange subsidiary, and Eutelsat, to start. The service will also be available for PC and mobile viewing.

This new service is part of the Orange strategy to offer customers the best programmes, direct or on demand, at their homes or on the move, for family or individual viewing, and on the screen of their choice. Orange has long been a pioneer and innovator in this field, launching TV and video on demand via broadband in France in 2003, and TV on the mobile the following year. Since 2007, Orange has been engaged in moving to the next stage, launching multiplatform services to enhance its TV offer such as Orange Sports TV, the first interactive sports news channel, and the TV on demand service Rewind TV.

This latest project will be presented to employee representatives in the coming days.
