Red Five Labs signs licensing agreement with ComCorp and announces commercial release of Net60 v1.0 Print E-mail
Written by Red Five Labs
Wednesday, 02 April 2008
ComCorp, a mortgage software vendor is licensing Red Five Labs' Net60 to bring innovative .NET financial applications to Symbian S60 3rd edition smartphones. Net60 will be commercially available by April 28th 2008.

The widespread adoption of ComCorp's product range on the South African market has led to the virtual disappearance of fax exchanges between mortgage originators and banks. ComCorp's platform currently processes, validates and routes more than 100 000 home loan applications per month, worth $6 Bn.

By using Net60 from Red Five Labs, ComCorp is able to leverage their extensive know-how in .NET development, and offer their solutions for the banking sector on the acclaimed Nokia S60 3rd edition smartphones, thereby offering their customers the choice to use some of the most appealing devices on the market.

"Net60 is really a business enabler for us", says Paul Moss, ComCorp's CEO. "We currently do not have any trained Symbian developers in our staff, and considering the cost of acquiring skills for this platform, it is likely that we would not have been able to deliver a solution for S60 for quite a while. Red Five Labs has helped us give customer requests a favourable answer, with no significant investment."

Dusan Babich, Red Five Labs' CEO says "We are thrilled about our partnership with ComCorp. They have a great technology and we are glad to help them bring their .NET solutions to the Symbian platform."

It is estimated that developing applications in C# using Net60 can take as little as a quarter of the time of the equivalent native, C++ development. Net60 offers software companies the added benefit of maintaining a single codebase; it does not necessitate the acquisition of new programming skills.

Net60 enables .NET Compact Framework applications to run virtually unchanged on S60 devices. Using C# or Visual Basic .NET in Visual Studio, developers can now use the .NET Compact Framework environment to build applications for Symbian devices.
