Actimagine has announced that the company joined the Symbian Platinum Partner Program to support the growing market for Symbian smartphones by extending its video codec, Mobiclip™ to the Symbian ecosystem.

Actimagine joins the Symbian Platinum Partner Program

Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS™, the market-leading open operating system for mobile phones. Symbian OS is licensed by the world's leading mobile phone manufacturers and to date, over 165 million Symbian smartphones have shipped worldwide to over 250 major network operators.

Symbian enables a thriving ecosystem of partners, handset vendors, operators, developers and other key mobile players that create value for the growing smartphone market. This value is cultivated by the continuing development and commercialization of new software solutions and award-winning applications for Symbian OS and its user interfaces including MOAP, S60 and UIQ.

Actimagine develops and sells under license Mobiclip, a patented software video codec, optimized for mobile platforms. Mobiclip is the technology that first made it possible to watch a full-length movie in DVD-like quality on mobile phones. Currently Mobiclip is the only technology to address the main challenges of displaying video on mobile platforms by offering DVD-like playback quality at 25 frames per second, full screen, for all types of video (premium, user generated and advertising) without compromising the lifespan of the battery.

Actimagine

'Actimagine is delighted to join the Symbian Platinum Partner Program' said André Pagnac, Actimagine CEO. 'The open standards and flexibility of Symbian OS are driving the kind of innovation that allows Actimagine to fully demonstrate the power and value of Mobiclip on smartphones.'

Symbian

"We are pleased to welcome Actimagine to our Platinum Partner Program", said Mike Whittingham, Vice President, Ecosystem Development, Symbian. "Symbian's well-established relationship with Actimagine demonstrates a shared vision of providing best-in class innovative technology to the fast-growing market for converged devices."
