GPSed.com: Social Network to Track, Trace and Share Trip Memories Print E-mail

GPS trip tracking and social networking... GPSed installed on the latest BlackBerry, some Symbian or Java smartphones with a built-in or external GPS receiver can record tracks and transfer them to GPSed web service in real time.

STUTTGART, Germany, Jan. 17-- SHAPE Services officially announced the release of GPSed (http://gpsed.com/), a complete solution for real time GPS trip tracking and a social networking place for GPS, digital photography and mobile users. GPSed installed on the latest BlackBerry, some Symbian or Java smartphones with a built-in or external GPS receiver can record tracks and transfer them to GPSed web service in real time. Users who already have a GPS receiver and some tracks may easily upload, view and share them using the software.

All tracks by default are public, so that anyone may find the track or trace someone else in real time. Recent public tracks can be found on GPSed homepage. "Being able to view real-time location from our colleague in San Francisco is priceless. We are able to trace him step by step", said Valery Bogdanov, the head of LBS Team at SHAPE Services.

In addition to GPS trip tracking, photographers and adventure travelers may take photos with any digital camera, upload them to their PC and view these photos with GPSed Photo Take'n'Pin, the desktop software which will assign latitude, longitude to the photos according to the time-stamp and the GPS track. These photos will be synchronized with the track of the trip and appear on the map at precisely the place they were taken at.

In the nearest time SHAPE Services will add the possibility to share not only the track but also the pinned photos with anyone the user chooses. Though, comprehensive, the company will target a large group of users, including hikers, hunters, bikers, photographers, tourists and anyone interested to try.
