Some more suggestions for holiday mobile fun, particularly for those of you sporting types lucky enough to have scored a Nokia N95 8GB or other GPS-enabled smartphone under the tree... how about tracking your sledding fun on the slopes with your mobile and sports tracker (keep that phone dry though ;0)
I had some holiday fun with the kids recently as we used Nokia Sports Tracker and a Nokia N95 (8 GB) to track and save our sled rides down the slopes. All we needed was some sloping terrain, a little snow, our N95 with GPS activated, and the cool Sports Tracker app and an account for the Sports Tracker web service.
Before we started down the slope I simply fired up sports tracker, got a GPS signal, slipped it into Megan's pocket and away she went. Her average speed up and down the slope was 4.8 kmph (slowed somewhat by the walk back up the hill1) and her maximum speed down the slope was a whopping 26.1 kmph (about 16 mph)... loads of fun! See http://sportstracker.nokia.com - you can find my tracks on user " gisuser" - Happy Holiday all... go have some fun!
Recall Sports Tracker come out of the Nokia Research Labs and thus, could use some more features to make it really sweet! Personally, I'd like to see the ability to create a user profile and homepage that is simple to share, the support for video would also be very cool!
