Christmas Comes Early From Nokia Research - Sports Tracker gets a major update at release 1.66 Print E-mail
Written by Glenn Letham

Hey Sports Tracker fans and mobile sports enthusiasts, we have news of a great gift for you in the latest upgrade to the Awesome, Sports Tracker, GPS-enabled Application now at R. 1.66. Now the mobile app is tightly integrated with the Online Beta Service!

I accidentally spotted this update this morning when I went into Sports Tracker and was prompted for an update.  I updated to version 1.66 and to my surprise the service is now compatible with the newly launched Nokia Sports Tracker Online Beta web service.

So what you might think... well, now you can add your workouts, track them, capture images and save them. But get this, now you can upload your saved workouts directly to your account OTA. While uploading you'll also be prompted to also upload any related images that you captured along the way. Once done, your workout will be saved with your user profile and available for sharing with your friends or other users of the service.

Simply put, this is a powerful and fantastic update to what I consider the Best, Free, location-aware mobile application on the market!

Some details of the update:

compatible with newly launched Nokia Sports Tracker Online Beta web service. See http://sportstracker.nokia.com

Nokia Sports Tracker 1.6

Upload your workouts directly from your mobile to your sports tracker web account. Edit the workout details and more.

Upload your workouts to the web service

Pair your mobile Sports Tracker with your online account

A new look with new icons will be found - notice your service settings

Workouts can be uploaded to the free sportstracker.nokia.com web service directly from the mobile (no need for a PC).
User account can be created very easily using the mobile client. Account information given when registering is used to log on to the web service
(alternatively: user account can be created online at sportstracker.nokia.com).
We've spent huge amount of time making the user account creation and workout uploading as convenient as possible. Also a great amount of effort
has been put into tuning sportstracker.nokia.com to make it easy to use. Show is not over yet - the development continues. Recommended browser is latest version of your favourite web browser. Mozilla FireFox is #1 weapon of choice, we still have some small performance issues with IE6...
2) Added support to photo placement (photos captured during recordig are automatically positioned on the track).
3) Added pedometer functionality to N95, N95 8Gb and N82.
4) E90 version has support for larger internal screen.
5) Published v0.9 of NST user guide.
6) Did several improvements invicible to the user.

v1.66 (18.12.2007)
1) fixed KML export problem with N82
2) removed automatic application launch after installation (this caused odd behavior in some devices)
3) added support for localization (other languages than English are not available just yet)
4) a whole bunch of other small things

NOTES:

Supports the following devices:

NOTE: v1.66 still has an issue with Nokia E60 and E61, and it does not install correctly.
