Quickoffice Releases First Application for Viewing and Editing Office 2007 Files on S60 Devices Print E-mail
Written by Quickoffice
Tuesday, 18 December 2007
As the first mobile office software suite to support the new Microsoft Office 2007 file formats on the S60 platform, Quickoffice allows users to now open, view, edit and create Word and Excel 2007 documents in their native XML formats, directly on their phone and without compromising data integrity.

Quickoffice Premier 5.0 supports latest file formats for Word and Excel documents

Dallas, Texas - December 18, 2007 - Quickoffice, the leading global provider of mobile office productivity software and services, today announced the availability of its award-winning software, Quickoffice Premier 5.0, for Symbian S60 devices. As the first mobile office software suite to support the new Microsoft Office 2007 file formats on the S60 platform, Quickoffice allows users to now open, view, edit and create Word and Excel 2007 documents in their native XML formats, directly on their phone and without compromising data integrity.

The upgrade also includes Quickmanager(tm) 1.5, the latest version of Quickoffice's on-device e-commerce application. Quickmanager greatly enhances the user's experience by enabling software upgrades over-the-air, and providing a quick, easy and secure way to receive the latest versions of leading mobile productivity applications.

"Symbian smartphone owners urgently need user-friendly software to support Office 2007 files, as access to these files increasingly becomes a must-have for mobile professionals," said Paul Moreton, VP of product management. "As the first to provide a solution for the world's most widely used mobile platform, Quickoffice continues its commitment to meeting the demands of our customers and providing solutions that fit their on-the-go lifestyle."

Quickoffice Premier 5.0 includes important enhancements to the core office suite including printer support, more short cut keys and many enhancements to the user interface. In addition, users can directly open, view and edit email attachments using Nokia Mail for Exchange 2.0. This allows for a seamless integration between email files and Quickoffice within the application for maximum productivity.

"The mobile office industry continues to be a rapidly growing sector, as the number of mobile professionals is steadily increasing," says Frank J. Bernhard, technology economist and managing principal with OMNI Research Group. "With this latest release, Quickoffice continues to raise the productivity bar for end users and expand the reach of important enterprise data to the knowledge workers who require it most. Our latest research shows that efficient access to mobile data systems can improve total factor productivity output by 17.9 percent, on average. This translates to real economic improvement with bottom-line results, thanks to mission-critical mobile office applications."

Quickoffice Premier 5.0 is available immediately and can be purchased online at www.quickoffice.com. Current Quickoffice users are also able to purchase the upgrade over-the-air via Quickmanager, where special discounts are available.
