A note from Nokia reps this week informs us that the Nokia viNe application will be rolled out of Beta soon... possibly even this week. viNe is a web service that enables users of the application to share their journeys, along with media collected along the way. As a long-time Sports Tracker user, N95 enthusiasts, and evangelist of all things mobile and geospatial, I was provided with a pre-release version of viNe - details and a complete "How To" install and use the application are provided... enjoy! It was back in June 2008 that the E71 was officially released to the public - the selling points for the E71 were a sleek, stylish do-it-all device that came with Mail for Exchange mobile email client - pre-loaded with the Nokia E71. Actually, the device boasted much much more than these attributes as you'll see below in my findings after having the pleasure of making the E71 my main device for 3 weeks... enjoy the recap, the images and the videos!

Co-founder to lead mobile office software vendor through next phase of corporate growth and new strategic initiatives
Dallas, TX-October 15, 2007-Quickoffice, Inc., the leading global provider of mobile office productivity software and services, today announced the appointment of co-founder Alan Masarek to chief executive officer. Masarek will be responsible for leading Quickoffice's expanded vision of a mobile office.
Quickoffice, already the world leader in providing mobile office document software for smartphones, is expanding its vision to deliver the next generation of mobile office solutions. Through the company's upcoming introduction of server-based solutions, on-the-go professionals will be able to access content from their mobile phones wherever that content exists, across a range of formats. Users will be able to remotely access data residing on their personal computer, as well as content that is embedded in mobile email attachments or stored locally on their mobile devices. With ubiquitous access to one's content and superior viewing and editing technology, Quickoffice users will be able to view, edit, print, fax, share and send content from their mobile devices.
"I'm excited to move into this role during this important next stage of Quickoffice's growth as I believe the company is ideally positioned to capitalize on the rapidly expanding mobile market opportunities," said Alan Masarek. "By combining our technology, mobile client expertise and new partner technologies, we can uniquely provide users with anywhere, anytime content access from their mobile device."
Masarek most recently served as president and chief financial officer for Quickoffice, the fourth technology-based company he has helmed. Masarek has scaled businesses from start-up through IPO, completing multiple rounds of VC financing and facilitating many company acquisitions.
"Alan was an ideal choice, as he has years of management and mobile software experience both within Quickoffice and in the industry," said Janice Roberts, managing partner, Mayfield Fund. "As CEO, his vision and proven track record of providing guidance to senior level executives and his unwavering dedication will be invaluable to our management team."
Masarek received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Georgia and his MBA from Harvard Business School. Masarek replaces Barry Cottle, who remains on Quickoffice's board of directors.
