uclick Launches Michael Jantze's The Norm on Mobile Phones Print E-mail
Written by uclick
Wednesday, 03 October 2007

KANSAS CITY, MO (October 3, 2007) uclick and cartoonist Michael Jantze have announced the launch of the hit comic "The Norm" on mobile phones through uclick's GoComics Mobile Comic Book Reader.

The Norm joins the GoComics mobile lineup this week with part one of "The 12 Steps of Marriage."

The story follows Norm, a designer working in advertising, and his wife Reine, a high-powered businesswoman, through the early days of their relationship and marriage. Norm narrates the strip as it tackles issues of love, work and technology.

Both the comic, with new mobile chapters added weekly, and wallpapers are now available for phones through GoComics.

"The online cell phone platforms are a new way to rediscover the strengths of the comic strip art," said creator Michael Jantze. "This new medium represents a great opportunity to reach an even wider audience."

The Norm began its run in 1996 as a syndicated strip from King Features Syndicate. In 2004, Jantze took the strip out of syndication and moved it to its new home on the Web and in print collections.

Jantze reached an agreement with uclick in early 2007, bringing The Norm daily comic strips to GoComics.com and laying the groundwork for mobile phone distribution.

"We are thrilled to not only run the strip daily on the Web, but now to bring The Norm to our mobile readers as well," said uclick Manager of Product Development Harold Sipe. "Jantze's strip is a very welcome addition to our mobile lineup."

GoComics offers a wide variety of exciting comic books optimized for mobile phone screens. Their star- studded lineup includes Virgin Comics, the sci-fi fantasy hits GØDLAND and Elephantmen, the webcomic-turned-comic-book PvP, the manga and anime horror import Guilstein, high-flying martial arts fun starring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and many more. The Mobile Comic Book Reader is available on all major carriers, including Cingular, Verizon and Sprint.
