A note from Nokia reps this week informs us that the Nokia viNe application will be rolled out of Beta soon... possibly even this week. viNe is a web service that enables users of the application to share their journeys, along with media collected along the way. As a long-time Sports Tracker user, N95 enthusiasts, and evangelist of all things mobile and geospatial, I was provided with a pre-release version of viNe - details and a complete "How To" install and use the application are provided... enjoy! Enter Nokia viNe 101
It was back in June 2008 that the E71 was officially released to the public - the selling points for the E71 were a sleek, stylish do-it-all device that came with Mail for Exchange mobile email client - pre-loaded with the Nokia E71. Actually, the device boasted much much more than these attributes as you'll see below in my findings after having the pleasure of making the E71 my main device for 3 weeks... enjoy the recap, the images and the videos!

Nokia Labs (Beta) - A gateway to Beta S60 Applications
Written by Glenn Letham

If you've kept tabs on the blogs over at S60.com then you're likely aware that "Tommi" has just been appointed his dream job of heading up the Nokia Labs. Read on for more about the labs.
Congrats to Tommi and thanks for the update. He points out that he'll still keep blogging, however, visitors to the S60 applications blog should expect a "Nokia Labs" flavor. He points out that we can expect the following from him over the next couple of months:
1. Get all relevant Nokia apps&services into the Beta Labs loop
2. Foster an active user community around Beta Labs, and encourage them into co-creation with Nokia (via redesign of the website, top-level blog, transparent feedback system, active two-way dialogue, etc.)
3. Foster "beta culture" inside Nokia
- removing barriers to releasing pre-commercial stuff to the Beta Labs
- getting lead-users (= top contributors of Beta Labs) more closely involved in Nokia's innovation process
Thos of you not familiar with the :bas I encourage you to do so. At first glance you'll find downloadable applications like the very popular and cool Sports Tracker - if you have a GPS-enabled N95 then this is a fantastic and fun solution as you track and monitor your progress as you walk, hike, bike or what have you. Also noteworthy is the recently updated Gizmo for S60 enabling S60 device users very simple and effective instant messaging.
