A note from Nokia reps this week informs us that the Nokia viNe application will be rolled out of Beta soon... possibly even this week. viNe is a web service that enables users of the application to share their journeys, along with media collected along the way. As a long-time Sports Tracker user, N95 enthusiasts, and evangelist of all things mobile and geospatial, I was provided with a pre-release version of viNe - details and a complete "How To" install and use the application are provided... enjoy! It was back in June 2008 that the E71 was officially released to the public - the selling points for the E71 were a sleek, stylish do-it-all device that came with Mail for Exchange mobile email client - pre-loaded with the Nokia E71. Actually, the device boasted much much more than these attributes as you'll see below in my findings after having the pleasure of making the E71 my main device for 3 weeks... enjoy the recap, the images and the videos!

The newly launched Sony Ericsson P1i is the first mobile phone from the manufacturer
to directly offer iSkoot software to consumers worldwide, enabling Skype(TM)-to-Skype
calls, Skype chat, and Skypeout(TM) calls from a mobile handset.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Aug. 21 - iSkoot today announced that the iSkoot mobile software is now available on Sony Ericsson's newest handset release, the Sony Ericsson P1i, which launched recently. The iSkoot mobile software is available to Sony Ericsson P1i users via a direct download service through the "More Applications" icon in the Phone User Interface. The iSkoot mobile software is now also available from the Sony Ericsson website, www.sonyericsson.com. Sony Ericsson is supporting iSkoot to deliver mobile Skype features to its customers around the world.
"To satisfy the demand for our products and offer the best user experience possible, we are working hard to offer fully-integrated solutions. We are very excited to work with Sony Ericsson, whose leading devices and innovation delight their users. iSkoot works on existing mobile networks so that customers can use Skype right out of the box. Making Skype calling ubiquitously accessible is great for users and mobile carriers alike," said Roy Erez, VP of Business Development at iSkoot.
"P1i users will be thrilled to have Skype on the go. We are very excited to have iSkoot enabled on the Sony Ericsson P1i and to be working with the leader in mobile-PC voice communications," said Jan Fredander Product Manager, Sony Ericsson.
iSkoot's solution supports the Skype Software, and the collaboration between the two companies will offer Sony Ericsson users on any cellular network the ability to make Skype-to-Skype calls on their mobile phone at the same cost as making a local call (depending on mobile user's call plan, normal airtime and data charges may apply), and receive Skype calls at Skype's call forwarding rates for mobile numbers. This collaboration benefits Sony Ericsson customers worldwide and also generates value for carriers by bringing incremental minutes onto the mobile networks.
