A note from Nokia reps this week informs us that the Nokia viNe application will be rolled out of Beta soon... possibly even this week. viNe is a web service that enables users of the application to share their journeys, along with media collected along the way. As a long-time Sports Tracker user, N95 enthusiasts, and evangelist of all things mobile and geospatial, I was provided with a pre-release version of viNe - details and a complete "How To" install and use the application are provided... enjoy! It was back in June 2008 that the E71 was officially released to the public - the selling points for the E71 were a sleek, stylish do-it-all device that came with Mail for Exchange mobile email client - pre-loaded with the Nokia E71. Actually, the device boasted much much more than these attributes as you'll see below in my findings after having the pleasure of making the E71 my main device for 3 weeks... enjoy the recap, the images and the videos!

Most Complain Finances Will Be “Tight” or “Painful” When They Return To
College; Many Will Look To Student Discounts To Help Make Ends Meet
Frat parties, football games and dorm room high jinx aside, college life can
be a real pain, according to a new survey on the budget burdens and cost-cutting
practices of U.S. college students. “Painful” is the way some 32 percent of students surveyed describe their finances
when they go away to school this fall, with another 48 percent saying their budgets
will be “very tight”, or at least “pretty tight”. The Vizu poll, sponsored by Mobile Campus, the premier provider of interactive
mobile communications, information, entertainment and transactional services for
university students across America, makes it clear that most college students
are assiduous about conserving money by sacrificing on nonessential items, or
ferreting out discounts and deals that can make their dollars go farther.
According to the survey, aside from leading an austere lifestyle, students most
frequently look to save money by utilizing the exclusive discounts offered to
them as students. Over 36 percent of students surveyed selected computers/electronics as the top
category that they prefer to receive discounts on. Food/drink and back-to-school supplies were the second and third most sought-after
discounts at 24 and 17 percent respectively. The Internet is currently the preferred channel for accessing discounts. However, a small minority is already receiving discount offers via text messages
on their cell phones, a channel of delivery being pioneered by Mobile Campus.
Deal Discovery
Mobile Campus has created a unique deal delivery service that caters directly
to the college market. Their service delivers deals and discounts, along with other services and content,
to students via text messages directly to their cell phone. Because the service works on a double opt-in basis, students are guaranteed
to receive only discounts that are highly valuable and relevant to them. To learn more about the budget blues of American college students and how these
money-strapped scholars are relieving the pain by accessing exclusive discounts
over their cell phones, please contact me. I can put you in touch with Mobile Campus CEO Jim Ryan, formerly a top executive
overseeing wireless data services at Cingular/AT&T, and other Mobile Campus
executives and users.
