Top-ranked supply chain, most handset options meet market needs
TORONTO – With at least one new mobile phone launched each month, Nokia Canada is helping
to keep Canadians connected with their friends and family. Working in close association
with all Canadian carriers, retailers and majority of Mobile Virtual Network Operators
(MVNOs), Nokia has launched at least one new handset in the Canadian marketplace
every month for the last 18 months. This includes the latest launch of the new
Nokia 1600 handset at 7-Eleven in June.
A big factor in Nokia’s success is its highly effective supply chain, ranked
the best in the industry by AMR Research. Customers of Nokia Canada benefit from
the company’s North American production facilities. With Nokia’s sales force and
manufacturing sites in close proximity to each other, the company is able to better
understand and more quickly respond to changing customer needs.
“When it comes to mobile phone manufacturers, Nokia clearly leads the pack in
supply chain management,” said Reza Rahman, Director of Sales Operations for Nokia
Canada. “Our supply chain management, sales operations planning, and collaborative
product development and launch, allowed us to manufacture and sell 14 new phone
models and 34 variants in the past 12 months. Globally, last year we manufactured
and sold 11 to 12 mobile phone units per second, 365 days a year.”
Among the 40 Nokia handsets available in Canada through various carriers and
retail partners, Nokia has launched several firsts, including the Nokia 5300 XpressMusic
handset – the first mobile phone that is fully compatible with the Rogers MusicStore
– and the Nokia 6103 – Nokia’s first phone to bring wireless Bluetooth connectivity
to a mass market price tier.
