A note from Nokia reps this week informs us that the Nokia viNe application will be rolled out of Beta soon... possibly even this week. viNe is a web service that enables users of the application to share their journeys, along with media collected along the way. As a long-time Sports Tracker user, N95 enthusiasts, and evangelist of all things mobile and geospatial, I was provided with a pre-release version of viNe - details and a complete "How To" install and use the application are provided... enjoy! It was back in June 2008 that the E71 was officially released to the public - the selling points for the E71 were a sleek, stylish do-it-all device that came with Mail for Exchange mobile email client - pre-loaded with the Nokia E71. Actually, the device boasted much much more than these attributes as you'll see below in my findings after having the pleasure of making the E71 my main device for 3 weeks... enjoy the recap, the images and the videos!
VoiceSignal Launches Continuous Speak-to-Text Dictation Application for Selected S60 Devices

VoiceSignal, the global leader in mobile voice technology solutions, has announced the release of "VoiceMode 2.0", the world's first continuous dictation solution for mobile handsets. Regardless of whether users have been text messaging for years or have never sent a text message before, VoiceMode makes creating a text message as simple as speaking into the phone.
VoiceMode 2.0 now Available for Commercial Download
VoiceMode 2.0 is an easy to use text input method that lets users create text messages by saying what they want rather than having to use the keypad. In addition to creating messages, VoiceMode 2.0 allows users to enter text into any text based application on the phone that uses text entry, including: SMS, MMS, email, notes, calendar, and office documents, simply by using their voice.
Users can launch VoiceMode 2.0 from any text based application by pressing on the talk button. Once activated the user simply dictates their message and VoiceMode converts the message from speech to text.
The VoiceMode dictionary has tens of thousands of words, so it covers almost all normal situations. In addition, words can be added to the dictionary allowing individuals to customize it to meet their own individual needs.
In making the announcement, Rich Geruson, VoiceSignal CEO stated, “VoiceMode 2.0 is another example of VoiceSignal’s leadership in the development of applications that use speech to simplify the operation of a mobile phone.” He added, “VoiceMode 2.0 lets people speak naturally to create text messages, documents or add text to applications like the calendar in a much simpler and more convenient manner than they could by just using the keypad. This is another very exciting breakthrough for VoiceSignal.”
“We are excited about having VoiceSignal join the Nokia Software Market, and we believe the VoiceMode product proposes a very strong consumer value proposition and strengthens the product portfolio of our channel,” said Tom Ojala, COO, Symmetria Software, an operator for Nokia Software Market.
VoiceMode 2.0 will initially be available for download onto selected S6-devices (Nokia N73, Nokia E62, Nokia E61, Nokia 5500, and Nokia 3250) and is available for download onto mobile phones through the Nokia Software Market site (http://www.softwaremarket.nokia.com/?product_detail_s60.html&pID=3025&pmsid=241&lang=en) operated by Symmetria Software. Regularly priced at 19.99 euros, the application will initially be available in UK English at a special introductory price of 9.95 euros. US English and other languages will be announced later this year.
