The Orange Application Shop wap and web sites will go live in the UK in the near future, with a limited range of devices - the shop is currently going into a "soft launch". The Shop is a brand new distribution route for your applications – direct to Orange consumers in the countries in which Orange operates.

How It Works...
Orange customers will be able to download your applications for their personal use, direct from Orange, via Orange World (WAP) site on their phone or from their local Orange consumer (Web) site.

Complementing existing Wap and Web based routes to market, including the current Orange World and the Orange Applications Showcase for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the Orange Application Shop will offer a huge range of applications across all major platforms.

The applications will be grouped in to the following categories across all major platforms:
Communication
Education
Games
Health & Fitness
Information Management
Music
Personalisation
Productivity
Reference
Security
Travel
Utilities

Each country where the Shop is launched will feature either all of the above categories or a selection of them on their own country Orange Wap and Web sites.

How to get your applications into the Shop

For your applications to be considered for the Application Shop, you must be a premium member or a contracted partner. This level of membership will then enable you to submit your applications to

The types of applications ORange is looking for

The Application Shop is aimed at customers wishing to buy applications for personal use.

From Orange Developer... We define applications as 'software which can be downloaded to a phone to help the user in their work or personal life', and will be available across all major platforms - RIM, Symbian (Series 60, UIQ …), Java and Microsoft.

How customers will access and purchase applications

Customers will be able to browse and buy applications that are suitable for their phones, direct from the Orange Wap and Web sites (www.orange.co.uk)
