WeFi Makes WiFi Easy Print E-mail

WeFi Public BETA saves time finding and connecting to free WiFi locations

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 20 - WeFi, the social WiFi community, today announced the opening of its BETA offering to the general public around the globe. To date, WeFi has been available only by invitation to a limited number of test users in selected markets. Building the world's first free, social WiFi community, WeFi helps mobile consumers find the best available wireless connection quickly. WeFi maps provide users with a dynamic, constantly updated view of available free WiFi spots, as well as the location and profiles of users.

"There is so much available WiFi out there for people to use. WeFi makes WiFi easy, enabling people to connect to the wireless Internet without hassle or difficulty," said WeFi CEO Arnon Kohavi. "WeFi combines its unique technology with user-generated information, to help people find the best available wireless connection so they can enjoy broadband media on-the-go. No other WiFi network provides online maps that are dynamically updated every time a user finds a new WiFi location, nor do they provide social, location based features like WeFi does."

How WeFi Works

WeFi software residing on the notebook computer, immediately starts looking for sources of free WiFi, and connects users to the spot with the best available connection. The WiFi locations are then presented in graphical form, with available ones identified with the color green, and the best one displayed on top. Users can also choose to connect manually to any WiFi location they choose by using the "Manual Connect" option to stay on a particular connection.

To help users find free WiFi networks with or without WeFi software, WeFi provides online maps that users update and share with others. Unlike most WiFi maps that are often out of date, WeFi maps are constantly being refreshed with new user-generated information. The maps display the location of available free WiFi locations as well as location and profiles of users. Special recognition is given to users who "find" new available WiFi locations.

Users can easily mark their favorite WiFi locations and save the access keys for locked spots to which they have obtained access or purchased. In addition to connectivity, the WeFi user tab displays other WeFi members connected to WiFi, their distance, location and profile information. One can even see if a user has visited a certain location recently.

Starting today, everyone can sign up for WeFi, view maps of WiFi locations generated by WeFi users, and download the free WeFi connectivity application at: http://www.wefi.com/
