The UIQ Developer Community has published an interview with Spartak Kabakchiev, WebGate's managing director. WebGate is probably best known for its Advanced Call Manager application, which provides UIQ and S60 device owners control over their incoming phone calls.
In the interview Spartak provides UIQ developers with an insight into the importance of understanding market needs in creating mobile applications. The paper examines how WebGate's approach to identifying mobile device user requirements lead to the development and success of Advanced Call Manager.
The paper then moves on to look at porting Advanced Call Manager to UIQ 3. Readers are provided with an insight into using the UIQ 3 Command Processing Framework. In particular, it looks at the way in which WebGate took advantage of the "building blocks" approach to create applications faster.
Written by SymbianOne's own Richard Bloor, the paper can be downloaded from the UIQ Developer Community at: http://developer.uiq.com/kb_guides.html#id1207
