UIQ Technology announces partnership with Scalado to provide a mobile imaging solution Print E-mail
Written by Scalado
Tuesday, 12 June 2007
Scalado and UIQ Technology has announced a new partnership in the UIQ Alliance program, supporting the many services, applications and content providers worldwide who enhance the value of the UIQ product offering. By adding Scalado's imaging solution, UIQ Technology is able to provide an even wider range of specialist applications to enhance the capabilities and user experiences within UIQ mobile phones.

Scalado to offer powerful, memory efficient imaging software for UIQ smart phones

Scalado is an industry leader in developing and licensing mobile imaging solutions for any mobile phone equipped with a camera feature. The Scalado software is known for its fast and memory efficient image processing and is already embedded in several phones across the globe, and manufacturers to already adopt Scalado solutions include; Sony Ericsson and Samsung to name a few.

"We are delighted to welcome Scalado into our UIQ Alliance partner program", said Carina Lindberg, Head of Partner Programs at UIQ Technology. "With this we can now extend our offering to our customers, enabling them to easily and quickly find partners and applications acknowledged by UIQ Technology, in their strive to enable the ultimate camera and imaging experience on the mobile phone."

"We are extremely pleased with the invitation to join the UIQ Alliance partnership program", said Mats Jacobson, CEO at Scalado. "By becoming a UIQ Alliance member and one of the preferred technology and application partners for UIQ; we can further expand our software solutions and strengthen our relationships with application developers, smartphone manufacturers and mobile operators within the UIQ community."

Scalado has already announced its solution for advanced image processing, and its CAPS™ Imaging SDK, will be made available in Symbian OS™ as a reference component, shipping in Symbian OS developer and customer kits. Scalado CAPS™ will provide extended functionality through a newly developed Symbian API which can be used to support the growing market for UIQ smart phones with more advanced imaging and camera performance. In line with this, the UIQ partner ship is a very strategic move to ensure that smartphones are a key device in the mobile imaging chain to capture, create and share photos.

Already through a result of the partnership, UIQ Technology has developed a PhotoEditor demo application and a Java imaging API on JSR 234, based on Scalado CAPS™ imaging SDK.

"This is further evidence of both the usability and performance of CAPS, and the UIQ developed applications are now already being marketed to the UIQ licensees," concluded Mats Jacobson.
