... or at least the first steps have been taken. Twm Davies has publicly released
the first beta of an application designed to offer editing of Freemind mind maps
on Symbian OS phones
Currently Mobile Mind is available for Series 80 devices,
such as the Nokia 9500 and Nokia 9300. Mobile Mind allows users to copy a mind
map created with Freemind from their PC and then edit much of the content and
structure as a hierarchical list. As a stand-alone application, Mobile Mind offers
an effective hierarchical list editor.
Currently the main features of Mobile Mind are:
- Open and save files in Freemind .mm format
- Rich text editing of nodes. (Which Twm claims is better than Freemind!)
- Quick entry mode for brainstorming.
- Link entries to URLs and launch to the Series 80 browser.
- Links to local files to keep bookmarks and local documents in order.
Twm is currently planning a port to S60, in which he expects to deliver a bubble
diagram representation of the map. In the meanwhile Twm would be interested in
the feedback from Series 80 users.
More information on Mobile Mind can be found on the Twm Design's website. The Freemind project page is available on SourceForge.
