F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus Detecting Spyware in Symbian Signed Applications

F-Secure reports the detection of spyware running on 2 signed applications. They
note... "After being installed on the device, they hide from the user and report
information from the phone to a central server."
So is spyware shipping on what you perceive to be "secure", signed applications?
F-Secure continued in the recent note with the following... "An interesting fact
is that the spyware for the Symbian 3rd Edition platform is Symbian signed. Therefore
it can be installed without any warnings and is capable of operating without Symbian
security alerting the user that something is going on."

Given the investment that developers have put into the signing process, Paul
is correct in noting that there may be some dissapointed developers out there
once they get wind of this.
