Scalado nas announced that its solution for advanced image processing, CAPS™-Imaging SDK, will be made available in Symbian OS™ as a reference component, shipping in Symbian OS developer and customer kits.

Scalado technology offers powerful, memory efficient imaging software for handset makers and operators

CAPS™ can be used for test and development purposes and a license is required directly from Scalado for use in products.

Scalado is a Symbian Platinum Partner and a supplier of image processing software for camera phone OEMs worldwide. The Scalado software is known for fast and memory efficient image processing and is already embedded in several phones from, for example, Sony Ericsson and Samsung.

Scalado CAPS™ will provide extended functionality through a newly developed Symbian API which can be used to support the growing market for Symbian smartphones with more advanced imaging and camera performance.

"This partnership reflects our dedication to the wireless imaging market and our commitment to further enhance our mobile strategy," said Mats Jacobson, CEO of Scalado. "By collaborating with Symbian, we can expand our camera and imaging solutions and strengthen our relationships with Symbian application developers, smartphone manufacturers and carriers."

"Scalado's imaging technology is already used by a number of our customers - a testament to its quality and feature set. Partnering with companies such as Scalado will help fuel the development of compelling camera applications and imaging solutions for smartphones", said Tony Newpower, principal product manager, multimedia, Symbian. "The inclusion of Scalado CAPS technology as a reference component within Symbian OS underscores our commitment to best-in class technology, providing our customers with lower integration costs through reduced RAM requirements and a shorter time to market."
