Global IP Solutions Announces Availability of VoiceEngine on Sony Ericsson Smartphones Print E-mail
Written by Global IP Solutions
Wednesday, 02 May 2007
Global IP Solutions (GIPS), the leading provider of embedded media processing solutions, announced today that it will enable VoIP on Sony Ericsson smartphones in the future through a SIP- based VoIP client.

GIPS VoiceEngine Licensed Through OptiMobile

SAN FRANCISCO, May 2 --  Earlier this year GIPS announced VoiceEngine Mobile(TM) solution was available for the Symbian operating system.

"GIPS technology enables smartphones with high-quality voice in the VoIP arena", said Gary Hermansen, President and CEO, Global IP Solutions. "GIPS offer the best real-time media capabilities available in today's market and we are proud to work with Sony Ericsson," he added.

OptiMobile is a leader within the field of seamless convergence between wireless Internet telephony and cellular telephony. The GIPS VoiceEngine will be licensed to GIPS' customer OptiMobile and used in its SIP-based VoIP client that is licensed by Sony Ericsson to support wireless Internet telephony (VoIP).

"OptiMobile and GIPS now offer mobile phone manufacturers the possibility to add VoIP-rich features to their customers," said Lars Edman, CEO of OptiMobile. "We are proud to deliver client application resources to Sony Ericsson mobile phones for Internet telephony and to extend the scope of our already existing relation with GIPS by licensing GIPS VoiceEngine for Symbian," he adds.

About OptiMobile

OptiMobile offers operators and providers of enterprise communication products a completely unified voice solution - WBX. End-users are able to use WLAN equipped mobile phones for calls over the Internet via WLAN whenever a WLAN Internet access point is within reach. Calls are automatically and seamlessly transferred between Internet and cellular networks.

OptiMobile is a leader within the field of seamless convergence between wireless Internet telephony (VoIP) and cellular telephony. Supported by OptiMobile's WBX solution operators and providers of enterprise communication solutions are able to offer end-users completely unified services, independent of the networks and radio access technologies being used from time to time. End-users benefit from lower cost of calls, reduced complexity due to unified call handling, higher availability and increased productivity. In general, calls made using VoIP have better sound quality than cellular calls. OptiMobile is licensing voice processing software for VoIP from Global IP Solutions.
