Symbian Press has added another title to its Essential series of booklets. This time its an essential guide to Carbide.c++.
To accompany the release of Carbide.c++ v1.2 Symbian Press have released "Using Symbian OS: Carbide.c++". This handy title provides the reader with an introduction to Eclipse, the platform on which Carbide.c++ is built, and Carbide.c++, before reviewing how to import or create a project. There is then a brief tour of how to manage project properties, before the booklet concludes by describing the processes of building, running, and debugging an application."
For anyone thinking of using Carbide.c++ for the first time this booklet provides a good introduction to the basics and provides a foundation from which to start exploring the IDE. Particularly for Carbide.c++ Express users its also a handy reference for day-to-day tasks. Unfortunately, the booklet does not even hint at the additional features in the commercial versions of Carbide.c++, such as on-device debugging and performance investigator - hopefully these will get their own "Essential" booklet one day.
"Using Symbian OS: Carbide.c++" can be downloaded here, and information on other "Essential" booklets can be found here.
In addition to the free PDF download hard copies of the Essencial booklets can be obtained by emailing
