Wayfinder Systems Agreement with World Leading Handset Manufacturer Based on Tele Atlas Maps Print E-mail
Written by Wayfinder Systems
Friday, 13 April 2007
STOCKHOLM, Sweden-- Wayfinder Systems has entered into an agreement with one of the world’s top five mobile handset manufacturers regarding the pre-installation of Wayfinder’s navigational services in upcoming models.

According to the agreement, Wayfinder’s services will be embedded in upcoming handsets with built-in GPS functionality.

“For Wayfinder Systems this is a milestone as it drastically increases the number of handsets with Wayfinder’s services installed. Today, more than 700 000 users have downloaded and used Wayfinder’s products. As sales of the upcoming models take off, Wayfinder’s user base has the potential to multiply several times”, says Magnus Nilsson, CEO, Wayfinder Systems.

“We have previously been pre-loaded on a number of handsets where users have been triggered to buy a GPS separately in order to experience the benefits of our applications. With the pre-installation of Wayfinder’s services on GPS enabled handsets one cumbersome step in extending our services to end-users is eliminated”, Magnus Nilsson continues.

“At Tele Atlas we are excited to be part of yet another successful company within the area of mobile navigation and location based services,” says Jack Reinelt, COO and Managing Director, Tele Atlas EMEA.

“With some operators in Europe we are already seeing a dramatic increase in up-take of our services when users are purchasing phones with built-in GPS. We have seen up-take rates in excess of 50% in some cases. Although our initial up-take figures are encouraging, it is however still too early to draw any reliable conclusions from these numbers”, concludes Magnus Nilsson.

About Wayfinder Systems AB Wayfinder offers map, direction and GPS navigation services accessible by mobile phone. From these basic navigation services, we provide mobile phone users with content services, including digital city guide books, traffic information, currency conversion and weather reports. Our clients include major handset manufacturers and operators such as Telenor, 3, Cingular, O2, Vodafone, SFR, Pannon, Telefonica and A1. The products are sold to end users throughout Europe and North America. Wayfinder has over 700 000 unique users. The company has been listed on the NGM Equity stock exchange since 21 October 2005 and currently has 75 employees.
