ALEXANDRIA, VA, March 23, 2007 – The Carbon Project announces it will introduce
Geosocial Networking at the CTIA Wireless 2007 Conference in Orlando, Florida
the week of March 26, 2007.
Geosocial Networking is a new and exciting communications phenomenon where software
solutions combine mapping with peer-to-peer (p2p) social networking. This technology
is based on IPv6 and can operate over various networks including wireless channels.
“Geosocial Networking leverages geography as a foundation for connecting people
and sharing location-based observations and experiences,” said Jeff Harrison,
President and CEO of The Carbon Project.
“CarbonCloud is the world’s first IPv6 based p2p framework for sharing location
content. It is the technology platform for our geosocial networking solutions.
With CarbonCloud there is no server or web-site involved, the connected computers
is all it takes,” said Nuke Goldstein, CTO of The Carbon Project.
The CarbonCloud p2p framework can be used over the Internet or with local ad-hoc
networks where an Internet service is not available. Computer-to-computer wireless
networks connect people by providing a framework for communicating directly with
friends and neighbors.
The Carbon Project recently released its first p2p software for Geosocial Networking.
((Echo))MyPlace is a free application available at www.echomyplace.com. This .NET application gives people the ability to exchange spatially located
notes that contain digital photos, custom symbols and text. Leveraging the groundbreaking
CarbonCloud p2p framework and mapping services by Microsoft’s Virtual Earth, Geosocial
Networking provides a new twist for sharing information, knowledge and experiences.
Geosocial Networking is based on IPv6, the next generation Internet protocol.
