UIQ Technology has announced the winners of the UIQ Open, a developer competition aimed at finding and showcasing the most innovative, useful or entertaining third-party applications on the UIQ software development platform.

The UIQ Open is an application competition where software developers and software companies submit UIQ 3 applications in different categories on the UIQ Developer Community website. Started December 2006, the competition ended on February 18, 2007, and during the past few weeks a jury of experts has evaluated the submissions coming from all over the world and appointed winners.

"We were very impressed by the quality and diversity of the applications we received for the UIQ Open.", says Peter Wikström, Head of the Developer Program at UIQ Technology. "The list of winners is a great illustration of the richness and possibilities offered by the UIQ Platform, and how application developers can make excellent use of them."

The judging panel selected two winning applications in each of the five categories.

  • Category Business
    • RoadSync by DataViz
    • Projekt by Kylom
  • Category Mobility
    • Agile Messenger by Agile Mobile
    • WorldMate Pro by MobiMate

    • Advanced Call Manager by WebGate JSC
    • Swiss Manager Pro by CellPhoneSoft

The winners were all delighted when receiving the news; among the comments were:

"UIQ has been a terrific platform on which to innovate, and we are thrilled with this recognition," declared Nadav Gur, CEO of MobiMate.

"The flexibility and power of the UIQ platform enabled us to create the rich end-user experience Agile Messenger is famous for." said Timon Haringa, Technical Director at Agile Mobile.

Each winner will receive a prize package including a UIQ phone, marketing packages for their application, an invitation to the UIQ Developer Fast Track event, and more. For further information about the UIQ Open, visit the UIQ Open pages.
