F-SecureŽ Corporation has introduced a new version of Mobile Anti-Virus service which can now be managed with external device management platforms based on the OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) Device Management standard.
The announcement comes with the arrival of F-Secure’s most recent mobile security offering, F-Secure Mobile Security™ 3.1 for S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 to be showcased with the latest Nokia S60 3rd Edition devices in the 3GSM World congress. This latest version of the F-Secure Mobile Security product promises new improved application architecture enabling a more flexible feature response to both corporate and consumer needs -- these modifications coming in anticipation of F-Secure’s support for all OMA DM Platforms in the second quarter of 2007.
In the present offering of F-Secure Mobile Security, functionality includes firewall protection for devices with WLAN to ensure full use of available networks with the assurance of comprehensive data security. In addition, the latest version of F-Secure Mobile Security contains new predefined firewall configurations to allow individual users and enterprises to set the desired protection level for their phone with ease.
Together with the new platform and client architecture, mobile operators will enjoy new flexibility for performing over-the-air updates and customisation of all antivirus clients in their database including such issues as client settings, pricing and the general look and feel of the service. And as with earlier versions, real time on-device-resident protection safeguards the mobile device from any type of attack, from intrusion attempts to malware. In the corporate environment, new functionality has been added which enables the faster installation of larger scale client applications to ensure comprehensive security coverage of a company’s fleet of smartphones.
Speaking about the latest edition of F-Secure Mobile Security, Antti Vihavainen, Vice President, Mobile Security said, “Management tools based on the OMA DM standard will be the normal way to manage devices, applications and security for mobile operators and enterprises. We believe that by aligning our mobile security solution with them we enable relevant parties to unify management practises without overhead.”
F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus and F-Secure Mobile Security support a wide range of smartphones including the latest Symbian 9 based devices. The latest changes to both platform and client further strengthen F-Secure position as the most advanced mobile antivirus service solution provider in the market.
